When Life Gives You Lemons... Put Them in Your Water


Many people order water with lemon at restaurants, but you might not always drink it at home. However, lemon water is extremely healthy for you if consumed consistently and on a daily basis! Below are just some of the positive health effects of adding lemon to your water.

Remember: ALWAYS use fresh lemon juice; bottled lemon juice often contains sulfites and other harmful chemicals that will negatively affect your health instead of helping it!

  1. Lemons contain citric acid, which can prevent kidney stones by raising the urine’s citrate levels and dissolving calcium particles before they can build up.

  2. Lemons promote the production of digestive enzymes in the liver; if consumed in the morning this can improve your digestion throughout the day and prevent constipation.

  3. Pectin (a soluble fiber found in lemons) can improve gut health and slow the digestion of sugars and starches, which reduces blood sugar levels. However, you must drink the pulp to receive these benefits so make sure you use fresh lemons!

  4. The tartness of lemons stimulates saliva production and prevents dry mouth, which can lead to bad breath created by bacteria.

  15. D-limonene and naringenin (plant compounds found in lemons) were shown to have anticancer effects when ingested regularly!
